Als "Reine Spanische Rasse" bekannt, hat der Andalusier einen großen Einfluss auf moderne Pferderassen ausgeübt. Diese Pferde wurden im Lauf der Geschichte auf der iberischen Halbinsel für Stämme, Händler, Kavallerie und Reitschulen gezüchtet und wegen ihrer natürlichen Anmut und Beweglichkeit geschätzt. Charakteristisch für diese Rasse sind ein starkes, aber kooperatives Temperament und kräftige, aber kontrollierte Bewegungen. Sie wird bei vielen Aktivitäten, von der Dressur über den Stierkampf bis hin zum Fahrbetrieb, eingesetzt. Andalusier haben eine besonders kräftige Hinterhand und zeigen eine hohe, elegante Beinaktion. Der Andalusier ist ein kompaktes Pferd mit einem Stockmaß von 1,50 bis 1,60 Metern.
