In the Mix

Der junge DJ Darrell (Usher) ist zur Stelle, als Frank Pacelli (Chazz Palminteri) in eine prekäre Situation gerät und rettet ihm das Leben. Pacelli ist ein mächtiger Mafiaboss und verleiht seiner Dankbarkeit auf seine Weise Ausdruck: Er stellt Darrell als Leibwächter für seine bildhübsche Tochter Dolly (Emmanuelle Chriqui) ein.
Was Pacelli nicht weiß: Darrell und Dolly fühlen sich schon seit Längerem zueinander hingezogen und haben die Situation gezielt herbeigeführt, um mehr Zeit miteinander verbringen zu können.
Erstmals seit 2001 - und damit seit seinem Durchbruch zum absoluten Superstar der R&B-Szene - kehrt Usher Raymond vor die Kamera zurück, und muss gleich, für ihn ungewohnt, einen kompletten Film auf seinen Schultern tragen. Von Ron Underwood ("City Slickers") kompetent inszeniert, ist "In the Mix" eine gefällige Mischung aus romantischer Komödie und Fish-out-of-Water-Comedy.
